Why Yoga Is Good for Children (and How to Start at Home)

Children are naturally playful movers, which makes yoga a wonderful fit. It supports balance and coordination, builds body awareness and gives them simple tools for big feelings.
What children gain
Focus: holding a pose or following a breath trains attention.
Calm: slow breathing helps children settle when they are excited or upset.
Confidence: mastering a balance pose feels great.
Connection: partner games build kindness and communication.
Three games to try at home
Balloon breath: hands on the belly, breathe in as it inflates and out as it slowly deflates.
Tree in the wind: stand on one foot, arms as branches, and sway gently without falling.
Starfish rest: lie down, stretch out wide and see how still your “starfish” can be for one minute.
Keep it light and playful. If your child would like a guided class, our children’s sessions run for ages 7–12 face to face and ages 12–18 online.
